Who are the Manchester Bolton Bury Conservation Volunteers ?

We are a group of volunteers affiliated to the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers who have an interest in the practical preservation and conservation of the Manchester, Bolton and Bury Canal and the surrounding countryside. This involves encouraging people to enjoy the local history and industrial heritage.

During the summer months provided the weather is fine we meet in a friendly and co-operative atmosphere on Saturday afternoons.

During the last year the group has become more actively involved in footpath maintenance, working with Salford, Bolton & Bury Public Rights of Way departments, United Utilities, Stoneclough Women's Institute and of course our parent body BTCV. With the foot and mouth restrictions more people seem to be using these footpaths which makes all the hard work even more enjoyable.

These improvement works are part of a long term plan to give easier access to the Irwell Valley.

It's Good for Your Health
Gentle physical exercise in pleasant surroundings out of doors is a very therapeutic way of working with the satisfaction that the work will be enjoyed by other people.

It's got to be good for you. Come and join us.
