The Horse Shoe
Inn to Kearsley Road

This section of the canal between
Kearsley Road and the Horse Shoe Inn was filled in the late 60's
by Fletcher's Paper Mill. The filling operations covered the
towing path which was also a public footpath and in addition
the line of the footpath had become overgrown. Slowly the fill
material has been removed to reveal the towing path.
After months of hard work stoning
of the path has started and completion is planned within the
next few weeks. The material has come from the road strengthening
works that are currently in progress at Stoneclough which is
being carried out by Kennedy Asphalt Ltd. under the supervision
of Dave Barns from Bolton Metro's Engineering Department.
