Map

From Daisyfield Dam to Daisyfield Railway Viaduct the canal has been filled and the area landscaped or in parts lies under the access road that is a continuation of Wellington Street.

The next section from Daisyfield Railway Viaduct to Bury Wharf including Barlow's Bridge is in private ownership, as is the rest of the route to Lower Woodhill Road, and for some of this length the canal lies buried under a concrete access road.

Bury Wharf and buildings were demolished during the construction of Bridge Trading Estate and the connecting tunnel to Lower Woodhill Road and what was the site of Irwell Bridge Mills was demolished during the construction of Bolton Road traffic improvement scheme.

Bury Council have acknowledged that the canal is effectively lost from Daisyfield Dam to Lower Woodhill Road and have made provision in the UDP for a possible terminus on land upstream of Daisyfield Dam.
