The dry section from Nob End
to Ladyshore Dam is owned by the Papermill who as part of the
Millennium bid offered the section in their ownership for a consideration
of one pound.
The section from the basin at the top of the locks to the breach
has become overgrown with vegetation and trees. This area was
cleared by the canal society and associates with a mass burn
in November 1997. Unfortunately the clearence of the area was
not followed up and the site has reverted back to a wildlife
haven.
From the Breach to Bailey
Bridge the canal has
been cleared and filled with free draining material. Just upstream
of Bailey Bridge an industrial
building was built
over the canal for use by the papermill.
The section from the industrial
building to Ladyshore
Dam is dry and is
slowly reverting back to nature. |
